On August 21, 1959, Hawaii was admitted into the union as the 50th State. To conform with the addition of Hawaii, President Eisenhower issued an executive order describing the new design and arrangement of Stars which became official on 4 July 1960. Since then we had the unpopular Vietnam War, Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy were shot and killed, the flag was planted on the Moon, President Richard Nixon resigned due to Watergate.
