Fred Kimball’s Campfire Yarns

Baden-Powell taught Scouting as yarns told around the campfire. These are ours: Troop 7 was founded in 1922, three years before the City of Coral Gables, and Fred Kimball has kept its story.

The inside cover of the Troop 7 LOG scrapbook

Baden-Powell wrote Scouting for Boys in 1908 as a series of Camp Fire Yarns, meant to be read aloud by a patrol leader, and he followed his yarns with practices and games for the patrol. Fred Kimball has kept Troop 7’s story for decades. Here it is told the same way: a yarn to read, then practices to try on your patrol, and now and then a game.
