The bigger trips.

Venturing Crew 7 is co-ed, from 9th grade (age 14) until age 21, and runs the longer, harder outdoor trips. Many members are also in a troop; a leader can explain how the two fit together.

Path of the Eagle. The Coral Gables Scouting story the crew grows out of.
Coral Gables

Built on a troop a century old

Crew 7 grows out of the Coral Gables troops that have met in Merrick's clearing since 1922. The awards here are for young adults: leadership, planning and service that colleges and employers notice.

The Venturing awards

Set by the crew, earned by the members. The highest, the Summit Award, crowns years of leadership and service.

Joining the crew

Venturing

What it builds. The crew's own goals and its first adventure: members plan it, run it and review it themselves.

Why families love it. Young adults practicing how to set a goal with others and see it through.

Leading the big trips

Pathfinder

What it builds. Planning and leading a high-adventure trip or major activity, mentoring others, and building personal goals around it.

Why families love it. The kind of leadership experience that reads well to a college and a first employer.

The Scout House, once per family
$150

Why a Scout House fee? Few units anywhere have a home of their own. Ours has stood in Merrick's clearing since scouts, families and friends rebuilt it by hand in 1976, beside the coral-rock chimney of the first cabin. We are lucky, and honored, to keep it, and the Scout House fee goes to its upkeep.

A leader will go through dues and trip costs with you before you commit. A uniform and handbook are bought once. If cost is a concern, tell the leader when they call; they will talk it through with you. Children of active-duty, Reserve and National Guard members can have the Scouting America joining fee waived.
